Compassionate Scripture for the Modern World
Published by Evenpath Press
Edition: First Edition

Kings and Prophets of the Old Testament, a companion volume to The Holy Bible: The New Living Message Version© (NLMV) is a ground-breaking interpretive translation-paraphrase of The Holy Bible developed on commission of the Compassionate Faith Foundation, Inc., working directly from all known existing public domain English and Latin translations of the original Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic texts.

The Old Testament of the New Living Message Version has been limited to the Pentateuch, a term meaning “Five Books” and first used in Hellenistic Judaism of Alexandria. It is the most common reference term used by Christian biblical scholars for the first five books of the Bible. The Editors have elected to redact the remaining portions of the classical Old Testament from the New Living Message Version Bible and to publish those additional works as a separate volume entitled, “Kings and Prophets of the Old Testament” for readers who wish to explore the subjects of those books in greater detail. The Editorial Board has taken the position that “the power and wonder of God’s creation should be the primary focus of the New Living Message Version Old Testament and has therefore confined the contents of the New Living Message Version Old Testament to the five traditional Pentateuch books. The Kings and Prophets of the Old Testament is the companion volume to the NLMV which covers those books of the traditional Old Testament redacted from the NLMV.

The NLMV and the Kings and Prophets of the Old Testament seek to convey God’s message of faith, healing and compassion to the modern world we actually live in, rather than the ancient world and times in which it was first delivered to humanity. It is in this world, and in this time, that we must seek to understand the meaning and relevance of God’s message to us. God, as any good parent, certainly wants his children to grow and mature in understanding, knowledge and appreciation of His Creation and His message.
